This is undeniably one of my most ambitious projects. I made this cake for display at the craft shop window. It got as far as a craft fair and was purchased there for over $100 by a woman who wanted to give it to her daughter on her wedding.
The inside of the cake could be used for storing keepsakes in a box such as baby shower gifts later on.
It took two months to make and will probably be the crochet item I’m most proud of making. I used the teddy’s from my own wedding to photograph the cake, and in the second picture I crocheted a long vine of flowers.

This has to be one of the most beautiful things I ever made, and I can’t believe how quick it was to make. It took just a couple of evenings, though I am not surprised using a 15mm crochet hook!
Here is the original pattern which has clear step by step photographs! Enjoy!

I knew I was going to do this pattern the moment I spotted it, and it seemed to take an age…..! But boy it was worth it! I did however only manage to make three out of the four carollers in the pattern. It was not as complicated to make as I thought it might be and the pattern instructions were accurate. I managed to finish this project just in time for Christmas 2014 and it took centre stage of my table at a local craft fair.
In total I spent about two weeks on this little group, varying the original pattern slightly. You can find the pattern here.
