Free Pattern ‘Diamond Desires’ Crochet Table Mat

starstitchIf you’ve never tried the star crochet stitch before, it really is very unusual and pretty. It can be a little awkward to grasp at first but after working a few of these stitches you should pick it up in no time.

I created a star stitch table mat using my favourite shade of blue adding a star pointed edging and diamond centre. Feel free to use the colours you like! I think you’ll the agree the result is quite striking  and would make a great housewarming gift, a gift for gran’s table, or just a nice addition to one of your own tables.

Diamond Desires Table Mat

by Crochetsomethingcool

Materials used:  1 skein each of Sirdar Snuggly Double knitting Shade A (0188) &  Shade B (372)

Each square measures 5″ x 5.5″ – use any hook to obtain your gauge.

Finished piece measures approximately 14″ x 12″.

Throw is worked in four pieces using double crochet, single crochet, special star stitches and treble stitches for the edging. The star stitch works in multiples of two’s. You should have 9 star stitches on each completed row (two working rows completes the pattern).
